Hi Everyone,

We'll Christmas will be here right around the corner, and I'm tired of buying tack for my hubby that he just doesn't use, so I'm thinking that maybe I'll stick to clothing items this year.

Thought perhaps a nice silver scarf slide and maybe a nice wool or canvas vest. He'd like a vest that is straight across the bottom instead of with the points.

Any suggestions or recommendation for vendors/brands to purchase such items with just under 2 weeks left until Christmas? Or suggestions of other possible trinkets to gift him with?

Thanks for any replies!

Try these two sites... I'm buying one for my husband for x-mas (and one for myself, too, cause my carhart just a bit too bulky).

Hi Marlana,

I got him the Wyoming Traders black canvas vest from Cowboy Closet last year, and he won't wear it. The canvas is kind of brushed (very soft) and it collects all kinds of lint and fuzzies. I'm going to try scotchgarding it to see if that helps, but right now it just hangs in a closet.

But that's the style vest I'm interested in (I think). I'm thinking of getting him a wool vest from a company call Filson. There a bit high priced, but are made in the USA.

take care,

KR

Try lots of fabric softener & dryer sheets... I only use the stuff on office clothes, because it doesn't let fabric absorb moisture, so my wool garments that I use for hiking, horsework or hunting are static magnets but also work the way they're supposed to.

If you're worried about a material that grabs lint & what not, then wool will also be a problem. Once it gets worn a little bit, unless it's a boiled wool, it's gonna get fibers that will pill out & grab lint, fuzzies, cockleburs, etc. Filson is a great company, I have some of my granpa's old hunting jackets from the 40's that are that wonderful buffalo plaid.

Maybe Filson's tin cloth? Or another heavy canvas or even better cordura fabric.

Thanks Marlana!

I'll give that a try on last year's vest.

The Filson tin cloth may also be a good option, or maybe I'll get him that stainless steel toolbox for the bed of the PU that he's been talking about.
