A bunch of us gals from western WA went camping last weekend and got some decent sagebrush riding in.

Great pics. Was that Burke lake near Quincy? I used to ride there every year, but not for about 15 years, now.

Yes, it's the Quincy Lakes Wildlife Area (also a public hunting and fishing area operated by WDFW).

Wow, that looks like fun. Nice open countryside ... I haven't been on a ride like that in a long time. Most of my rides around here have been more woodsy and your pics make me itch for some wide open spaces. :)

I visited last summer with some friends who had moved to Omak, and got to do a bit of riding up there. My only regret is that my own horse was still back home in NC, but I had a great time with the borrowed fellow. That is very different country, but absolutely beautiful, so wide-open. And the smell of the sagebrush! I tried to bring a few sprigs home in a ziplock bag, but it doesn't work.

Thanks for the pics!

Man I didn't read this post right away because I thought I'd be super jealous. And I was! The terrain out there is just so neat and different from here. Next time we go for a trail ride I'm going to have to take a camera. We might as well be on different continents.

Nice photo, Liz! Buena looks like a lovely girl. Arabs are still my next-favorite breed after TBs. :)
