My name is Liz Clark. I found EH style horsemanship in 1995/96. I have ridden with Buck nearly every year since then. I had the pleasure of riding with and learning from both Greg Eliel and Leslie Desmond in the past and I was lucky enough to see Ray a couple of times and then ride with him a couple of years ago. I have seen Peter Campbell many times and aspire to ride with him in the future.

I have a National Show Horse mare that I started this journey with. She has taught me bunches and is semi-retired. She's a bit of a hard luck case and probably would have been sold down the road many times with other people. I owe her so much that she will spend the rest of her days here with me. In 2004 I acquired an unstarted Arab filly via a rescue group. It's a pretty sure bet that she would have ended up on someone's dinner plate in Europe or Japan had I not brought her home. Within a few months I started her under saddle with the wonderful support of like-minded girlfriends. Buena is now going fairly well under saddle and with any luck she will be my husband's or son's horse some day. I don't get to ride near as much as I would like to these days, but that will change with time and as my son gets a bit older (he's 3 1/2 right now).

I look forward to getting to know the folks here and maybe even meeting some of you in person some day in the future.

Hello Liz!

Sounds like you keep yourself busy! When my son was that old, I had a donkey for him to ride.... he would fall asleep and I would have to jump down and catch him before he fell off. Now my son is 27 and its time to think about riding with the grandchildren...... don't get in a hurry for that little one to grow up!!

Yrs,
JRW

Thanks JRW. I am not in too much of a rush, but anything that takes me away from time with the horses and in the saddle can be a bit frustrating. I am VERY thankful for both my husband and my son as they are VERY supportive of my horsemanship. I just dislike that nagging feeling that I am not getting enough time in the saddle.

Hi, Liz!

Watching Peter Campbell is wonderful, but I hope you do get that chance to ride with him also. I've had a lot of good help in my horsemanship journey with my mare but without Peter I'm not sure my partnership with her would have come along this far yet. I've ridden with him five times now, most recently last month. I'm feeling very fortunate this year that I have two more opportunities to ride with him. Usually I just get one chance a year. Peter's wife, Trina, has also helped me a bunch and I'm really grateful to both of them.

I know I've not been getting enough riding in over the past several months. (I'm not sure what "enough" is, just that I haven't been coming anywhere close lately!) Here's to more time in the saddle for everyone who might be feeling a bit deprived.

I, too, hope to meet some of the folks here face to face one day. You just never know when that might happen!

I never seem to get enough riding in lately. I can completely sympathize with that one! Luckily the longer days and better weather will be cooperating more and more between now and probably November!

Nothing like growing your own hay to make you feel independent!
