Just a bit curious, anyone seen any of Mike Bridges DVDs? (Understanding the Hackamore, Bridle Course, and Seeking Refinement). They sound interesting and as I'm at the moment 6 months pregnant, I'm looking for examples of good riding/horsemanship to watch these sleepless nights... ;)

Any other DVD-tips are warmly welcome!!! (We have retired our old VHS, so not possible with other formats.

Congratulations Radinka!

I've watched only the hackamore ones (saw them on tape; are they avail on dvd?). Kinda cool because he has 3 horses/3 different riders all at different levels. Some good tips and exercises you can work with regardless of what headgear you are using. The first tape in the series could cure your insomnia when he gets talking about different size hacakamores and mecates...

As far as I can tell, MB's films are available on DVD, for example check out the video section of the website "El Vaquero", http://www.elvaquero.com/Videos.htm

Thanks for the congratulations guys! It feels just fine and we are both well me and "Tiny" (or, rather, all three of us ;) since my S O also is happy with the situation).

I have Mikes video's they are decent, I liked and actually got more from Martin Black's. I noticed that "The Three Masters" is on DVD now. I saw some on Ebay.

Ok, thanks for the input, 'spinks. I've heard that MB1 can be a bit to the non-pedagogical side, that he's an excellent horseman/rider, but people can have difficulties to take to what he is saying?

I'll definitively look into MB2 too. Thanks for the tip!

I'm not sure what all those words mean, but if you have any experience riding horses with traditional gear you won't have any trouble understanding Martin Black.

I agree with Wes. I don't know what your words meant. I have watched both series. Got more from the Martin Black set.

Ooops. Sorry guys! :( As I am not a native English speaker, I do mess up...

What I meant was that I've heard that Bridges is an excellent horseman/rider but that he is not the best when it comes to explain things.

I have not heard much about Black (write that down to me living overseas!), but AWSpinks tip sounded very interesting, so I think it would be worth while to look it up, especially when there are two of you recommending him.

Thanx again for your tips and for bearing with my (mis?)useage of the English language!

All the best!

Martin Black is just some guy that takes all my entry money at the Fair in the stockhorse contest. ;)

M-hm... Three masters DVD you say? So, thus far the goodies are:
Mike Bridges (maybe)
Martin Black (sounds like a good bet)
Three Masters (Brannaman/Jenkins/Morris?) Some really good parts, but some not quite as good? But as the good parts are THAT good, it's more than worthwhile?

I do know where to get hold of Bridges and Black's The Hackamore, The Two-Rein, The Bridle as well as Colt Starting Philosophy and The "A" Pen. I guess it is the three first ones you refer to as the "Black series"? I found all on http://www.elvaquero.com/Videos.htm But the 3 Masters? Any idea?

All the best,
Radinka

I finally decided to go for the Mike Bridges' DVDs, and they have just arrived!!! along with the compilation of Ed Connells articles on "vaquero horsemanship"... :-)

If I remember correctly, there's about 10 hrs of material on those three DVD sets. I'll be back with some reviews later on.

I would get Martin Black's video's , as with Buck Brannaman's bridle horse series . I would pick those over Mike's , just personal preference .
