Hi there - welcome! Always good to meet new members. When you get a chance, do tell us about you and your horse(s). Maybe post a pic or two. I see you don't need to be coaxed to jump right in on any discussion that takes your fancy - good for you. :) There isn't the huge volume of posts here that there are on some other horse-related forums and message boards, but I find that what is here tends to be more thoughtful and thought-provoking.

I like the atmosphere here. I see you are from Monterey. Know it well. Is the riding stable still on Aguajito Road, or long gone? Not much to tell, about me. Shadow is 10. Black TWH mare. Very sweet. Digger is 8. Hope you will forgive me, but I won't be giving very much more than that, for a while. I have seen other boards take personal information and be very mean with it, and I am here to discuss horses. If that will work for you, then I will stay. If that is not okay, I will go. I know a lot, but like to learn a lot too. Anything that I may say is just an opinion. I am not a professional horsewoman. I have lurked here much, so jumping right in was easy. Some of you, I feel that I know. Thank you for the welcome.

I've seen it - and experienced it - too. Theres some serious hostility out there, and it doesn't do anyone any good... the horse world seems to collect it in spades sometimes. What I like about this board is the lack of it... it lets us sit down and talk about things without that tension.

I was in Monterey (Pacific Grove) a few weeks ago, too. I love it there... I was trying to corrupt Franca...

Ahh, good to see this post. I had hoped you were only joking about taking your product line and leaving. I see a sense of humor here and feel better now. That is all I can hope for here, is that I can join in, give an opinion, take some knowledge away from here and learn from experiences that others have had and I have not. I can sometimes share. If I know nothing, I'm either silent or I say, I just don't know! I don't generally pretend to know about things that I do not.
Did you succeed in corrupting her? And did you by chance, have calamari while you were there? I do miss the fresh fish from the wharf. And the scent of the sea.

Sorry - didn't mean to give the impression I was looking for any personal information. Just horse stuff, as little or as much as you want to share. :) For example, I'm gearing up to take my horse to a Peter Campbell clinic in a couple of weeks with a couple of friends. I seize what opportunities I can to ride with Peter.

I actually am in a more northeastern part of the Monterey Bay area and don't get to Monterey proper all that often, so I can't say if the riding stables on Aguajito Rd. are still there or not. I eat calamari all the time ... in fact I'm making Calamari Piccata for dinner tonight. Just thinking about it is making me hungry! Must be lunch time....

No Franca, you didn't give that impression. I wanted the board to understand my reluctance in not sharing everything that I have; that I am. If I can be accepted at face value, that is all that I ask. I have been burned and seen people be burned and won't allow that again. Thank you for hearing my words. You gave no bad impression.

Welcome!

Happy to have another gaited horse owner here, kinda rare on this forum. We own 4 horses, all "easy" gaited, and used to live in Mountain View, Ca -- so we have something in common.

Look forward to hearing more from you.

Thank you Kat, and happy to meet you! Shadow is the smoothest horse I've ever sat, while Dig looks more like a Morgan. He moves like a walker though. I drive him, mostly and ride her. Old owner sold her to me, because she wouldn't gait for him. She must have disliked him, because just ask her and off she roars! Spent a little time in Scott's Valley, as a kid. Mountain View more towards San Jose?
