Hey everyone! I'm back from Egypt and finally compiled all my pictures from my trip into an album complete with detailed descriptions. I actually got home on the 15th but I've been super busy with getting back into the swing of things here and putting the album together.

Egypt was amazing and the trip of a lifetime. I didn't get to ride any horses, but I did get to ride a camel. Let me tell you, I felt like I was learning to ride all over again. Riding camels is unlike riding a horse in every way!

Hope you enjoy the pictures! Feel free to ask any questions.

(Hope its okay to post this here! I know it's not entirely horse or vaquero related, but there are horses in the pictures!)

Thanks Red! I took well over 1000. It is such a great place to visit. I was worried especially since Pakistan was in such a mess but Egypt is a wonderful country with nothing to be worried about.

Thanks Reata! I missed you guys too! I checked into the chat a couple times while I was away but it was always EMPTY!

The donkeys I think were both by feel and big sticks. This guy I didn't see him use a big stick at all. In Kenya they don't ride their donkies but use them for pulling. They use a big stick but don't hit the donkies at all with them. If they want the donkies to turn left, they swish the stick on the right and the donks move away from the stick.

LOL! I love that guy. He was hilarious. And the camel was too cute to boot. The way he said "come. Come take a picture. This is is Alex. My Camel" was just hilarious and still gives me a chuckle.

Thanks Titania! My mother rode the camel for 2 minutes and is now convinced that she wants to get back into riding again. She used to exercise and ride and take care of the horses at the Marine Bases in NC. But I doubt she'll get back into it.

Wow Exy, what a great travelog. It`s going to take me awhile to go through all the pictures and read your wonderful discriptive comments below. Sooooo interesting. Thanks for posting them. I love history and the closest I will probably get to Egypt is the hours I spent in the mummy exhibit at the Chicago Field Museum.

Thanks for sharing. I am really enjoying your trip!

Thanks Mares! I wanted to share it with everyone and I didn't have everyone's email address. I love history too and love Egyptian mythology. I really do want to go back there some day but spend more time. I felt rushed through several of the sites. I think next time I'll take a voice recorder too. It was super interesting and I don't have the greatest memory. I was carrying around a notebook the whole time and taking notes but it would be very helpful to have something more.

LOL Red, well, the thing is my little brother is (supposedly) very allergic to horses. When we were in Scotland sister and I went riding and we were exiled to the trunk of the car (it was a hatchback) and he had an asthma attack. So ever since then if my sister and I ever come to the house when we've been in recent contact with horses (she's a pro-jumper) we are ordered to strip outside, doused with a hose, steamed, ironed, disinfected. Ok well, its not that bad, but you get the idea. So ever since my brother was born 13 years ago, she doesn't do horses much. She misses it and loves it. Everytime she rides a horse she says she misses. And she rode the camel and she says she missed it. Maybe one of these days she'll go ahead and start riding again. She was a pretty good rider....there was this Shagya Arab in Hungary that everyone refused to ride called Forsha. Mother was the only one that liked riding her and could ride her.

send the brother to military school...
perfect solution.

;-) only kiddin, but I know where there is a will, there is a way...and if she decides she is riding again, you all better clear the decks, and get out of her way, she looks like the determined type.

OK, I failed. I tried for quite a while to post some photos of a well-known but not-quite-ancient ruin from here in Nebraska. I thought they were pretty good, but you'll have to settle for the generic stuff. Go to Google and search for "Carhenge".

This is what happens to a guy out on the high plains who has spent too much time alone.
