mane hair ones, that is.

I think a lot of us are of the opinion that not much beats a Sara Hagel mecate, myself included. However, Sara is mucho busy and I'm in the market for something a little quicker. Has anyone ever used, or at least handled a Rocking Horse Ridge mecate? Or does anyone have any recommendations for decent mane hair mecates that might come a bit quicker and cheaper than Sara's? I'm saving up for another from Sara but in the meantime I've got a nice new headstall I want to try out and I don't have proper reins for it. (You know how we all love excuses to buy more good stuff....) I don't want to just buy any old reins because I'm in a hurry, though ... same as with my cowboy boots. The need is great, but not [i]that[/] great - don't need total junk cluttering up my limited tack storage space!

My current mecate is from: http://www.cowboyhorsetack.com/ They're wonderful. Try getting some off the Houlihan's Horse Gear site too.

Hm ... got a "page not found" error on that link ... but it apologized for the inconvenience and said to try back later, LOL. So I guess I'll try again tomorrow!

I know this is a shameful thing to do but, you are asking. I have a mane hair mecate for sale on Ebay. I don't know who made it but it is very good quality. Item #150105073662 if you are interested.

It doesn't bother me that people post that they have things available that people want. But I know some boards don't allow it. I figured that I would let people know though you can send "private messages" to people if you have something that they want. You click on their name (like click "FrancaV") you can see their profile and then on the right you can send someone a message. That's one of the many nifty things on this message board that I have discovered. You can also put in a "signature" so you don't have to sign your name everytime.

Ok this ad made me chuckle: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-22-FT-BLUE-Mecate-REINS-Training-HORSE-TACK_W0QQitemZ220095600660QQcategoryZ16254QQrdZ1QQ cmdZViewItem

My favorite part is: 22 FT (HUNTER GREEN COLOR) 1/2 "- 9/16" TRAINING MECATE REINS MADE WITH SUPER SOFT HIGH QUALITY EQINE AMISH YAHT ROPE.THIS ROPE HAS GREAT MOVEMENT AND PERFECT WEIGHT FOR LONG REIN TRAINING/WORK. LEATHER SLOBBERS ATTACHED WORKING ENDS. THIS ROPE IS NOT TOO HEAVY/STIFF/ROUGH OR BULKY FOR DOING WORK WITH YOUR HORSE. NON BURNING IN YOUR HANDS.

I has absolutely no idea the Amish were such experienced sailors/yachtsmen. Not only that but Eqine amish yaht too! Lol.
