My name, like Franca's, is my real name. Ash. My black, Cheval Canadienne mare is Brenna and she is five. She's my life blood. She is "The Guardian of the Fire," according to Klaus Van Hempfling (I know that sounds snobby but I read his horse personality book the other day and that's what she is). This means that she is a quiet mare, hard to irritate, but has a fire that comes through when she needs it. This also means that she is my friend and will do for me as long as I do for her.
Kennewman calls me eclectic. I ride in a dressage saddle, but my heart is in the trails of the Great Plains that my horse and I have recently found that we love to explore. Back at home, I ride dressage and am a working student with a local dressage trainer, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE this other brand of horsemanship that fills in all the holes that I occasionally find with just dressage. I love that it allows me to understand my horse as my partner. Thanks to this bb and vaquero training, I have come very far and I like to believe that Brenna is a pretty happy mare.
I told 2 Cents the other day that if it wasn't for my love of dressage and learning to ride like Bettina Drummond, that I would buy a Wade saddle in a heart beat. LOL But no, I am content to be a dressage-a-roo!
When I am not fawning over Brenna, I also train a QH gelding named Sunny for my mother and take other people's horses as often as I can for experience and uhh, rent money.
