Hi Sandy,
Sara Hagel and her daughter Maysa made a couple of nice martingale style breastcollars for me with our brand on them, and they used the brass alligators you're asking about. I don't really care for them, and took them off, and they've been laying around in a bucket in the barn for a while. I'll send them to you if you'd like.

I use them on the bottom strap of breast collars to connect it to the girth... but I don't really enjoy the banging around of them on the saddle dee's. You can get them at a lot of saddle shops, but off hand I can't remember what online stores carry them. You might have to just do a search for "brass alligator snap".
