Greetings all,

I am a barrel racer by trade, but really enjoy the information I get from my Eclectic Horseman subscription.

I have a pair of reins that I love. They are braided from two types of parachute cord. The one type appears to be regular old parachute cord but the other is a soft & fuzzy kind of cord the same size/width of parachute cord. I thought someone out there might know where I can buy some of the cord so I can make my own reins.

Thanks for all and any help!

Don't know about "soft and fuzzy" , but mil-spec (military specification) cord has 7 small strands inside the outer casing. Most colored cord isn't mil-spec and has yarn on the inside. O've braided a lot of mccartys out of mil spec and it always was "softer" on my hands than the other stuff. It's much higher tensile strenght , too.

The soft and fuzzy cord may also be mohair or cotton. King's Saddlery of Sheridan, WY used to sell mohair by the foot. Makes a really soft mccarty.

Thank you so much! I'll check out the place in Sheridan. It at least gives me a place to start!
