Jennifer began writing for AQHA’s The Quarter Horse Racing Journal as a field editor in January 2001. Hancock writes feature stories and covers major races and events for the Journal. Hancock graduated in 1994 from Texas A&M University with bachelor’s degrees in animal science and agricultural journalism.
While at Texas A&M, she was active on the horse judging team, served as secretary of the TAMU Horsemen’s Association and worked as a racehorse groom.Her professional experience includes working as the lifestyles editor and city editor of the Dalhart Daily Texan newspaper and as the media relations coordinator at Sam Houston Race Park in Houston, Texas. While at Sam Houston, she managed the press box, wrote press releases regarding Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred racing, and arranged facility tours. As a youth, Hancock participated in local Little Britches rodeos, and during her teens she competed at AQHA shows primarily in showmanship, Western pleasure and Western horsemanship.Hancock and her husband of 10 years, Keith, have an 8-year-old son, Garrett. In addition to spending time with her family and numerous pets, Hancock enjoys horseback riding, traveling, camping, surfing the Internet and watching America’s fastest athletes in action. Her two equine companions, one of which is a retired racehorse, are especially grateful to Mr. Hunt because since returning from El Paso, she is attempting to be more aware of their efforts and slightest tries.
