Gwynn Turnbull Weaver created this contest as an homage to to tradition and lifestyle the vaqueros, and of todays working cowboys of the Great Basin. It's a great event and well worth attending if you enjoy watching big loop riatas fly.
With her husband David Weaver, they spend summers traveling the western U.S. directing ranch roping clinics for folks interested in improving their skills in both horsemanship and ranch roping.
They are excellent teachers, and together they can make even the most novice folks feel welcome and ready to step outside of their comfort zone to participate in fine art of roping.
